Deja vu all over again? Wasn’t Ferrari the perpetual loser in the first turbo era?... Or, better yet, at least there was a podium finish (this race. Podium finishes 3 out of 4 so far this season for the two of them. One who is still wet behind the ears and so far is sitting in 5th place O/A in the championship). My memory is foggy but Ferrari might have forgotten to show up for most of the season during the ‘80s, they scored so poorly. With top-caliber drivers too. In 20 to 25 years time, you folks may be savoring these results, while you’re watching Formula E! Imagine all those Williams fans, McLaren fans, Lotus fans, etc. At least if they don’t win, they are always second (Constructor Championship). I also watch it for the technology. When you read books like Adrian Newey’s
How to build a car or John Barnard’s The Perfect Car, even if you learn 20 or 25 years later what they saw and the others didn’t, those guys are/were amazing.
Maybe in 20-25 years from now, we will learn what Mercedes did. It does not make racing more exciting unfortunately.
