It works fine (this is the setup I use in my basement, but I use DirecTiVos
elsewhere in the house). You cannot, however, record one channel while you
watch/record another if you are using a series 1 standalone with a separate
receiver. The quality obviously is not HD, but it's good and I use s-vid to
connect my HD Sat receiver (a ProScan) to the TiVo.

I have a DirecTivo and love it.  I want more but DirecTV doesn't send 
out Tivo's anymore.

Does anyone have a DirecTV HD receiver and an add-on standalone Tivo?  
Does it work well?  Are you forced to watch the chanel that is 
recording?  How is quality?
