Absolutely! This is a much better discussion than the postal system.

And my opinion is that if you take a 250 GTE and turn it into a 250 Cal
Spyder or a 250 GTO, yes, you should still keep the Ferrari badges on it and
proudly call it a Ferrari. Just be honest and tell people that it is a
recreation. I would proudly own one of these cars and drive it often.

My belief on Ferraris is that the essence of the Ferrari badge is in drive
train and the rolling chassis. What ever body is on it doesn't really
matter. And I guess this is the big difference between the kits that turn
me off and the kits that turn me on. Cobra kits with 289s and 427s are
still just way cool. And Dino kits with VW engines in them are crap (there
is one here in the town that I live in).

So, what are the thoughts on this type of kit? Is it a kit, or is this a
restoration/recreation from scratch?

Check out the 67 Mustang body at the bottom (coming soon). This is the
complete unibody with doors and rear deck lid.

Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Replica Cars

Interesting work but boy thats a lot of work to make something as a copy. I
saw the price of 100k dollars which today in the UK would buy you a REAL
Diablo
(they are going for about 55,000 pounds......) Don't know how long ago this
website was set up or how old it is but if just a few years its interesting
that depreciation means you culd get the real thing now for the same money!

Still in general I wonder why people have such strong feelings about replica

cars or kit cars yet as I said before they don't if its a boat or plane. Why

is that? Have we all been so taken in by the car manufacturers that a "real"

car has to come from one of the big manufacturers and that kits or home
builts
are inferior? And badge or no badge, if it looks like a Ferrari or Lambo
does
the addition of a badge make any difference either way?

Lastly how about those historic and valuable Ferraris, ect that are wrecked
or burned to the ground and have to be completely rebuilt, restored. When
the
body parts are no longer available you can have entire new bodies made of
handbeaten metal. Retrim it and even put in a new engine (or rebuilt
one...). So,
if all you have is a fire damaged chassie and your GTO is completely remade
is
it anything different from a kit car?? There are plenty of guys here in the
UK
that can build you anything in metal and copy any body possible (DK
Engineering has made several GTOs off other ferrari models and you CANNOT
tell the
difference without checking chassie numbers and DK is known as one of the
best
ferrari restorers in the business) Autotechnique is another one (check the
issue
of Octane from just two months ago for their work). Are these cars really
much
different from a replica or kit car just because they have 1 original part
like the frame or maybe a ferrari engine (which a kit car could have as
well)

Just a few points, I am not defending either way but it is funny how a lot
of
cars have been restored and rebuilt after bad accidents and you wonder how
much of the car still exists that left the factory originally. We have
discussed
this before but I do say the lines are bluring with many kit cars (I am not
really talking about the Fiero based things but more the GT40s, Good Cobras
(you can get a full metal cobra body now built in an old MIG fighter jet
factory
in Poland for £30k), the Chesil speedsters, ect.....

Sorry this is so long but it is better than discussing the postal system,
right?? :)
