I noticed my stock paper element gets clogged every 10,000-12,000 miles. I
can tell by the way the transmission shifts! (I drive 40k miles a year) It
worries me to put in a high flow element like rev hard's in the 740. Anyone
have an opinion? I know Jim C's opinion from year's past on the E36. Same
on the 740? Rev hard's choice of filtration media? How about using ITG's
element? (have one sitting in a box somewhere) Is it worth the power gain over
filtration quality? Is exhaust enough?

I think you need more air in as well as more air out

Power lusting for the V-12. Hate the V8.

the twelve-cylinder 2001 750iL weighs 21% more than a 540i/6, yet its V-12 only puts out 12% more horsepower and only 11% more torque, thus the 540i/6 is a far faster car, 1000 lbs lighter with a lower rear axle ratio. The bigger cars are geared much taller for quiet luxury. The MSport has an even more extreme 3.15 to 1 rear ratio - it sucks gas because of the high revs but I still got 24 mpg at an average 84.6 mph over 600 miles. I would flip rear ends on that 740 series before putting a high flow element on it, altho it must be said that the frequent precip makes Seattle's air about as clean as it gets ref particulate matter.
