Charles,
You are correct that the ticket is not the full expense, but you can have K40 pay your ticket deferral program fee, which means the ticket never goes on your record!

The problem for you is, it doesn't matter. As with all traffic court
trials, they will never take your word over the sheriff's, and saying
that your radar detector never went off merely pegs you with the judge
as a chronic speeder. It's clearly a revenue ticket (which aren't?).

I'd recommend you contact an attorney or see if the sheriff might be
willing to change the ticket to a non-moving violation at the same or
higher fine. I've had luck with that. Costs you a little more up front,
but less in the long run.

PS - Rich - K40 used to offer to pay your tickets. So does Phazer now.
The problem is that the ticket is never really the real expense. The
real expense is the insurance premiums. In this case, them paying the
ticket hurts you because you are less likely to fight the ticket
vigorously, and then you find out months later how much it really cost
you when the insurance premium comes due.
