Well here in IN and KY you can enroll in a "driving school class" that meets two consecutive saturdays for 4 hours each. I haven't been to one in a while but I remember the fees are pretty much exactly the same cost as paying a speeding ticket. Around $150. Once you finish the class there are no test or anything like that - you just can't get another ticket in the same county/state for 6 months, and if you don't then the ticket disappears and never goes on your driving record. It's pretty neat and I have had as many as 3 deferrals going on in IN at the same time - all in different counties! They never check.
