Regarding synchrio operation and the weight of the oil ... there are other
factors to consider.

Yes, the lighter oil might provide adequate lubrication for the synchros
while allowing the transmission to shift well. But, my experience has been
that transmissions that call for a 75w90 (or similar weight gear oil) tend
to be noisy with the lighter oil and could possibly lead to bearing
problems. Granted noise would not be much of an issue in a Ferrari.

I can't imagine though if you hear the bearings rattling arounnd that it is
good for them ...

All that said, I have not personally tried the MTL in a ferrari transaxle,
and have been using the RL 75w90 NS in my car with no problems. That is not
to say that the MTL would cause any problems as its use was suggested by
others.

YMMV,

Jeff

I think that each individual gearbox will require some experimentation.
What works well in one may not in another.

But that said......

Jeff's comment about using MT-90 instead of MTL could
possibly aggrevate syncro issues. The syncros work better
with thinner oil. That's why (in general) most of these cars
shift better after you've just run the piss out of them -- the
oil has warmed up and gotten thinner.
