It seems ironic that just as Audi wins Le Mans with a diesel and a
whole panoply of emerging technological solutions to automotive
propulsion are on the horizon F1 chooses to freeze any further power-
plant development for 10 years. It's reminiscent of NASCAR, which nows
consists of identical clown cars distinguished only by their paint
job going 'round and 'round with their Jurassic-era carbureted pushrod
engines like so many brightly colored Skittles being flushed down a
toilet bowl.
