Say - when you down under the steering wheel area, had you flipped over and grabbed the accelerator pedal unit that is another area that need servicing - IF it has the original grease. My pedal only took two feet to get it to move. Turns out the needle bearings were so jammed that I thought they were oillite. Took a plastic hammer to drive the pedal axel out of the housing. Cleaned up and greased with a moly and all is good. Real sweet.
