Rob - That was my first thought. Did that before, and it is an effective fix. Unfortunately, the spot where the groove was was right in the middle of a bend in the pipe, so using the hose trick was not an option. Thanks for reminding me about the clutch helper thing. I remember that my pipe was getting punched by that mechanism also. Those aluminum pipes are very fragile. Bob '01 Corvette Z06 '78 308GTS -- "Robert W. Garven Jr." <rgarven [at] gmail.com> wrote: Robert, I am sure you already did this but every where a aluminum water pipe touches something, including another pipe I have cut a piece of the 40mm water hose and wrapped it around the pipe with a zip tie. there is another place on the other side where the same type pipe is about 1/4" near the clutch helper spring assembly and as it goes up near the oil filter it almost touches a a stud and nut for something. I also did this in front near the radiator and in-between the pipes that rune fore and aft and wher the AC hoses rub against the frame rail near the AC compressor. It looks like you have a weld problem but i had the same type bump in the rear but it was a worn shock. I assume you replaced the shocks when you did the rebuild? where Rob Garven On Apr 30, 2008, at 4:56 PM, robert_h_bowser [at] juno.com wrote: > Now that I have rebuilt the suspension front and rear, things are > much stiffer now, and a problem I have had for a while is much > worse.
