Actually, the gap on the plugs in the picture is 0.60in., and is the 
recommended gap.  I checked the plugs I took out, and they were all right 
around 0.60in.  Gap had not changed significantly in all those 102,124 miles.

I set the gap on my 308 plugs to 0.45in, as I have electronic ignition 
installed.  Seems to work fine.
