Larry:

Having spent a few years behind a desk at a dealer, there are a whole  
lot of people in every day to look.

The ones that are serious about buying have no problem sauntering up  
to the desk to ask for help.

That being said, I expected one of our salesmen to greet everyone that  
came in - offer their assistance or answer any questions.

Salesmen/women do tend to size up the customers (and it is hard to  
stop them) since they don;t want to get tied up helping a "looker"  
when a buyer might be the next person through the door.  For them, it  
is all about the commission, baby.
