My "American" lifestyle doesn't concede time to smell the daisies. I gots to get somewhere! R In a message dated 08/08/08 14:59:35 Central Daylight Time, rentiers [at] me.com writes: This was the system on the French AutoRoutes when I was over there a few years back. No I-Pass; they just issued a paper receipt which you presented at the next window to pay. It had the time of printing stamped on it. Between the toll plazas, which were about 30 KM apart, were wonderful roadside parks with benches etc. The prevailing method of driving was to go like Godzilla was right behind you, then pull into les parc for a Gauloise. Once the requisite amount of time had elapsed you resumed driving absolutely flat out all the way to the next toll plaza.
