Guys got under the car today
And guess what?
It was not the clutch or throw out bearing
There are 6 8mm nuts that attach the half shafts to the transaxle on both
sides of the car
Well in April when I did the service you have to remove these in order to
remove the engine
When I re-installed the half shafts and there associated bolts apparently I
did not torque the 6 bolts on each side
On the left side all the bolts where disconnected from that side of the
transaxle, they were there but not connected!
On the right side 3 of the 6 bolts were loose.
I took pictures and will send them on Sunday
But this explains the partial drive not drive issue
Bottom line is that even when you have as much experience as I do mistakes
can be made when it comes to work.
I was careful not to over torque anything but apparently I did not torque
these to the correct values
I did this time and was extremely lucky that I did not suffer major
catastrophic damage to the transaxle assembly
My plan is to put a paint slip line on them and check them often since I do
drive the car
Anyway it wasn't the clutch and will let you all know how the test drive
goes but I am not expecting and follow on issues
Stay tuned
