Hi FellippeYeah, I'd go along with the '80s - when redlines were around 12k IIRC. I know there's a lot of advantages to paddle shifting but personally I prefer the stick shift.
I have several videos showing various drivers doing qualifying laps at Monaco (mostly) with the camera behind the drivers head - making it possible to see the road as well as his hands moving from the wheel to the shift lever. I always found that talent impressive. The engine noise if also in the video making the experience even more pleasurable.
But we don't need to open that argument - we have plenty of new stuff to argue about. ;-)

BTW, F-1 lost me when the cars revved so fast that they started to sound like crazed sewing machines. Call me crazy (everybody does) - but I like to hear the engine thumping as it climbs to redline.I kinda agree here....when do you think we had the last cool sounding F1 car? If I had to guess I'd say pre'89 when stickshifts were still around...And, that's probably a big part is why I dislike hybrids, etc. - they justdon't sound like they should...Well "real" hybrids like Priuses, sure.... But the hybrids in (near) luxury vehicles is a totally different story. I drove my buddy's Toyota Highlander SUV, and when you stomp on it the electric motor gives you a temporary kick that feels like you've gained a liter.....and all of this without defeating the sound of the gas motor. It does its hybrid job by shutting off the gas motor at parking lot speeds...I'd imagine the Lexus GS 450h would be a fun car to drive. A real 4.5 literV8 instead of a smaller V6...I want to see a Bluetec diesel E-class with an electric motor. Car puts downhigh 30s MPG with peak torque around 390 lb-ft....an electric motor shouldboost that nicely, and the sweetest thing about electric motors is the flattorque curve boost....peak from 1 rpm! :) FG _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/l02turner%40comcast.net Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/
