I think there's some logic to that argument. All cars need sorting out, even the so called mint cars that need nothing. Going over the car and satisfying yourself it's sorted to the degree you're comfortable with will cost a bit of money, but as you say, then you'll know "it's done right".
Nice thing about the 348, as it was used in a series race, I'm sure there are still some parts kicking around to improve performance. Although I would imagine, as it is stock is quite fine performance wise for the vast majority of people who will buy it.
