Um, not so much less frontal area or contact
patch. They were after less aerodynamically screwed up frontal
area. There were trade offs such as less centripetal force preventing
wheel lock up, where is the front of the car is in relation to the turn, tire
development, and brake size. Jody almost got the Tyrell P34
consistently working well. I think he placed well in several races and may
have even won one. One trick was to cut a window in the side of the car to
see what's going on.
