Phil, I think the simple answer to your question is that the issue of guns and gun violence has become politicized. When that happens, it seems that it is no longer possible to see the issue clearly. You and I, being law abiding citizens and without a federal license, could not walk into a gun store, or a gun show, and buy a weapon capable of full automatic fire. The bad guys get illegal full auto weapons without federal license (of course) through clandestine sales from corrupt agents. Many of the full auto weapons used by Mexican narco-terrorists, for example, came from the Mexican armed forces. The âFast and Furiousâ weapons were semi-automatic. Any knowledgeable gunsmith can modify the sears of semi-auto weapons and convert them to full auto relatively easy. Anybody with a CNC machine can illegally fabricate full auto sears. ÂIllegally manufactured full auto sears are also Âavailable in the underworld market. Legally manufactured sears are available on the internet. It is even easier than thatâ.. http://www.angelfire.com/anime5/unclero/books/AK47_Full_Auto_Conversion_for_Dummies.pdf So, yeah, the bad guys continue to sell to bad guy buyers and nothing seems to be done about itââ..but politics needs to fix blameââso the legitimate gun stores and gun shows bear the brunt. It is not about the gun, it is about the userâ..but thatâs politics for you. Regards Feliz Navidad Prospero Ano y Felicidad From: Phil [mailto:philville [at] windstream.net] "Assault Rifles (selective triggers to full auto) are military weapons Maybe the problem could be better controlled when we realize that much of the problem in obtaining any deadly weapon is that not only do "the bad guys seem to have few problems obtaining them." BUT, the bad guys continue to sell them, how do we start to control that element rather than place the mantle of blame on all intelligent gun owners? Phil
