A newly rebuilt engines should have increased friction and usually will run
hot until the rehoned surfaces get ‘used to’ each other, forming mating
grooves. This depending on whether the engine has new rings (should
have) and rehoned cylinders (should have) and the engine wasn’t ‘run in’ by the
rebuilders on the engine stand (this depends on how much you paid
him). Typically 2-5 hours is adequate to ‘run in’ an engine but the
rpm & times depend on factors beyond discussion here. Afterward
requires oil and filter change (obviously). Interrogate the rebuilder and
assess/analyze his answers. If a newly rebuild engine isn’t ‘run-in’ it
may never regain that low friction condition until much later in
life. Materials used in newer engine designs with 200k mile life get
around the ‘run-in’ necessity of 100k mile engines yet use less oil and actually
are tighter (go figure).

runs warmer than normal As you know it has a relatively
new engine 16 k So what do you guys out there
think it could be Fans come on and off at the
right time but the static temp is now 190 195 which is way warmer than it was
