Larry, Bring a Trailer or a live auction!
Once again I'm thinking about parting with my 1992 512TR -- and more than a bit overwhelmed by the decisions as to how "best" to sell, and what might be a fair price. I consider it to be in really good shape -- whatever that means these days for a car that's
driven, not a "garage queen" -- with about 40,000 miles and a major servicing completed about a year ago by specialists at Scuderia Performante (in my local Philadelphia area). A friend suggested F40 Motorsports as one possibility. Certainly selling to a
buyer such as them would make the process much easier -- but at what price (i.e., discount from what I might get if I advertised through more conventional public channels), I don't know. Frankly, since there isn't a wealth of data on values, as would be the
case with frequently sold vehicles, I don't even have a good handle on what a current fair price might be. I'm in absolutely no rush to sell -- I would do so tomorrow if I were very highly confident that I was receiving a fair price, but I could also comfortably
wait years, though it's such a continuing shame that I don't drive it all that much. (Yeah, I know -- please don't simply suggest that I drive it more often.)
Any thoughts (other than driving it to the ghetto, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much,
Larry Bardfeld
