Read the most recent Sports Cars Market on sites such as BAT, where the owner can't control the information presented to the buyers.
Larry if you don't mind having a really good detail done and taking 150 or so really good pics you can sell it yourself ... cars.com, autotrader, carsforsale.com, hemmings.com and about 20 other free sites. You'll want to post a really good, informative writeup so you aren't answering the same questions 100x.
My guess is if you sell the car to a dealer
you're going to receive $20k or so less than retail value. 1.
they have to make money to support their facilities, 2. they
will put some money into the car, because there is *always*
something to do to a Ferrari, and to any used car, to prepare
them for retail sale. 3. a dealer can probably get more for the
car than you can because they are a dealer, they can offer
financing and warranties and make buyers feel more comfortable
with full inspections and reputation. See if some dealers in
your area will consign. That may benefit you both.

Larry, Bring a Trailer or a live auction!Once again I'm thinking about parting with my 1992 512TR -- and more than a bit overwhelmed by the decisions as to how "best" to sell, and what might be a fair price. I consider it to be in really good shape -- whatever that means these days for a car that's driven, not a "garage queen" -- with about 40,000 miles and a major servicing completed about a year ago by specialists at Scuderia Performante (in my local Philadelphia area). A friend suggested F40 Motorsports as one possibility. Certainly selling to a buyer such as them would make the process much easier -- but at what price (i.e., discount from what I might get if I advertised through more conventional public channels), I don't know. Frankly, since there isn't a wealth of data on values, as would be the case with frequently sold vehicles, I don't even have a good handle on what a current fair price might be. I'm in absolutely no rush to sell -- I would do so tomorrow if I were very highly confident that I was receiving a fair price, but I could also comfortably wait years, though it's such a continuing shame that I don't drive it all that much. (Yeah, I know -- please don't simply suggest that I drive it more often.)
Any thoughts (other than driving it to the ghetto, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much,Larry Bardfeld
