Tricks to eating in Italy.

Skip breakfast. Nothing more than a cappuccino (which should never be ordered after 11 am). Cigarette is optional.

Lunch - pace yourself if you’re going out for dinner.

Dinner - don’t plan on eating before 8 pm.

Order all 5 courses. Wear loose pants, take the wine pairing recommendations.

Finish with a cafe correcto and stumble your way back to the hotel.

I am trying to shift to a "eat to live, not live to eat" mentality but, when in Italy, that shit goes OUT the window.  You don't get to eat that well very often in life.  I am fortunate that I have an aunt a couple hours away that grew up in Italy with my father.  She is as good as any famous chef.  We joke that she uses witchcraft when she cooks.  It is that good.  But she is in her 90s now and slowing down.  I try to visit as often as I can.  I tell her not to cook but she doesn't listen.

In regards to what Anthony was saying, be prepared to eat. The last time I was in Rome was back in 2009. I can’t remember the place, but they served sea bass which was baked in a crust of salt. Absolutely incredible. Find a place that serves that...

Other places that comes to mind were “Il Sorpasso” on Via Properzio which is within a short walk of the Vatican. Also “Borghiciana Pastificio Artigianale”.

Hi all,

I have the pleasure of exploring London and Rome with my 19yo son March 12 – 20, and threw a hail mary factory tour request.  We are attending the Manchester United game on the 15th, do you have any suggestions for cool/offbeat things to experience in either the London/Manchester, Rome area?

Thanks a million!

Mark
