Yea, Larry - we were both right,?I guess. But it's almost imosssible to get a
CCW in NY, and in Calif you have to be?doing deep 'Monicas' on the?Sheriff, or
be a sworn officer?to get one. Here in Arkansas, it's no felonys, your own
weapon, $125, and 8 hours of training.?5 in class,?3 on the range. About 'Big
Brother' and his/her police state? IMHO, both Ruby Ridge and Waco proved it's
already here.

Yer fellow inmate #666-69-007, Ferrari Bubba (maybe soon to be a 'guest' at
Gitmo?) I'll fool those bastards, I LOVE water surfing!

??? That was a daydream thing - don't believe it would happen here in Va. but I
don't doubt it might happen in NY or LA.?? I don't believe they're ready to
accept the idea of people carrying guns,?? Also, you never know who you'll run
into.? You're also right about the felony backgrounds of CCW holders -
obviously pretty rare.??

??? Anyway - you make a good point - my scenario is unlikely for the most part
-

?

??? But my primary point (not made very well) was the magnetic strip *could*
contain all kinds of private info.? Health problems for example - which a
potential employer would like to get to see if you are a high risk.? Even of
bigger concern is having DNA on the strip - now that they have mapped it pretty
completely, they are finding all kinds of markers indicating all kinds of
possible diseases in your future.

?

??? It's the "Foot in the door" or the famous "Slippery Slope" things - once
they get? a little they'll want a lot and will quote all kinds of "good things"
that will come with further implementation.

If your scenario about being handcuffed and laid over the hood of your car for
only running a stop sign and having a CCW is to believed,?you must
live?in?either North Korea or on Mars. That might have worked in 1960's
Mississippi and you were black, but it sure woudn't fly now. Present SOP now is
if you're in a 2 man (sorry, not PC) 2 person unit, you (the driver) exit your
unit?(I always unhooked?the stap on my front-break holster)?and go to right
behind the driver's car, asking the driver to stay in his vehicle, roll?down
his?window, and please?show me is driver's license.?While my partner stationed
him/herself behind the rear passenger's rear tire as both my 2nd pair of eyes
and as my backup.
Two things caught my eye in your Scenario. #1 is that not too many folks with a
CCW have felony warrants otstanding for them. That CCW would be yanked by the
government quicker than you know what goes thru a goose, and #2 I'd pray that I
was Black. My lawyers would file a multi-million dollar suit on your ass, your
partner, and the city/county before you got off shift. Let's see. Racial
profiling, excessive force, police brutality, assault and battery onder the
color of authority, ... I'd make Rodney King look like a person who didn't know
how much money he really could have recieved if he had only held out a little
longer.

Book 'em Dano, yer pal Bubba

Dr Steve wrote <<we won't even mention adding to the coding when one
purchases a
firearm, >>

Or, if some of us citizens might be so audacious as to have a Concealed
carry permit. The police should obviously know when approaching a car with
one of *those* people at the helm.

I can see it now, I roll thru a stop sign at some deserted intersection at
2am - being able to see for miles I don;t come to a "full and complete
stop" - blue lights instantly light up the night, a few seconds pass as my
license plate is entered into a computer, electronic bits warmup, unseen
things fly between the police car and a satillite thousands of miles away
and back again - next thing I know 2 officers are approaching my car with
guns drawn and demanding I exit the car and lay on the ground where I'm
handcuffed, lifted up then laid over the hood of my car.

for rolling thru a stop sign in a wide open area with nothing coming for
miles around. On another subject, I was almost hit last night when I
pulled out of our sub-division last night - unknown to me a small pickup was
coming over the hill toward the intersection with only parking lights on -
it was a black pickup BTW - amd I didn;t know he was there until I was out
on the higheay and looked to see him on my bumper - still with only parking
lights on. And then I see a car approaching in the other lane without *any*
headlights - could barely see him at all. Must have been saving his lights
for another time. It was well after dark with all other vehicles having
lights on. *That* is what police should be going after.

Oh well, have a nice week -
