Car makers are the real losers as a result of this phenomenon. They have to
cater to this line of reasoning. The media promotes it to an extent.

Car magazines are written by journalists. I know plenty of them..most barely
know that lugnuts need to be torqued. But, they know that NAVI and Dynamic
Stability Control makes a car "better" than another.

A powertrain should be judged by how many times it wins Le Mans. Is there a
better test than that?

And, if you want to get extreme...if your car's powertrain hasn't accomplished
the above, is it worth owning? My thought is no.

Agreed for about 99% of the car enthusiasts out there.

I don't get annoyed much if some of these people only want to worship
certain prestigious marques....fine, whatever. But I get very annoyed with
the arrogance that some marques are automatically better than others and
that certain marques (esp. domestic) are POS.

I think it's getting better though. People are slowly starting to accept
Corvettes, Vipers, Caddies, etc.as legitimate performers beyond a straight
line.
