All 3 diodes are subject to the same loading. When a diode fails in that configuration, it is due to a doping anomoly or surface fault from welding flash during lead attach, or from failure of the chip bond to heat sink. While many other isoteric faults are possible, none are related to external circuitry. It isn't the fault of the repair facility unless the regulator required heat sink installation which is of paramount reliability importance. Has anyone done their own 308 alternator regulator replacement and can remember the physical layout and requirements of the job?
