Ken wrote< <<demand others give up the hours of their lives>>Ahhh... my favorite tactic when my kids wanted something. Actually I use it on myself as well. Whenever I or someone wants something I always ask "am Iwilling to trade X hours of my life (ever how many it takes to earn themoney needed for purchase) for something being requested? a few hours for aweeks worth of groceries, a LOT of hours to buy a car, etc. So the higher the hourly rate, the few hours of life must be traded. It is often lost in the ongoing arguments but every nearly dollar we earncomes from the trading of hours of our lives that we lose forever - they canbe bought by dollars but never bought *back* by dollars. (I exclude themoney earned by investing which provides a ROI and things like the increasedvalue of our homes, etc) Everyone must weight the value of the hours of their lives lost with the need or want of something being considered. So not-dying from Polio or the Swine Flu ranks up there with buying a Porsche, in your view? If you can't afford something, you deserve to DIE? And you wonder why the NeoCons have an image and 'values' problem..... Next, you're going to tell me Jesus was wrong, too. We are NOT our Brother's keeper. Gotcha. "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness - for the Upper-Class and GOP Members Only" That's catchy - Sarah Palin should run with that.Leaving Jesus aside, nothing is more wrong-headed than insisting that health care is a "right". Rights are defined as those natural prerogatives, God-given if you will, which accrue to any man. Being bestowed by God, they cannot be constrained by government. We all know the litany - Freedom of Speech etc. But your freedom to speak does not imply my mandatory attention to your thesis. The rights of individuals are constrained by the equal rights of others. Your right to wave your arms to amplify the point you are making ends one inch from my nose. The plantation owner has no right to demand his cotton be picked unwillingly, and without just compensation, by others. How then does one individual, or group of individuals, have the right to demand others give up the hours of their lives unwillingly and without negotiation to provide them with health care? If your health care is a right, so then is picking my cotton. _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/l02turner%40comcast.net Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/_________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/sherman%40wildblue.net Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlineshttp://www.F1Headlines.com/
